And recover…
How do you nurture you?
Do you have different techniques to care for your mental health? How about your emotional and spiritual wellbeing? Do you move your body and also get enough rest? And do you do these things daily?!
We all know we should do selfcare but it’s so easy to allow other things fill our time, unless we make it a priority!
If you’re not looking after yourself, when you hit a bumpy patch in your life (and it will happen) your recovery will be harder, longer and possibly you’ll need more support. Selfcare doesn’t have to take long, but it’s about doing different things that honour your whole being every day. Maintenance shall we call it, or you maybe you prefer ritual or routine – go with what resonates for you.
No one can look after you, as well as you can look after yourself. You know you best, and it’s your responsibility!
The days when we need to give ourselves more love and compassion, are the ones we usually discount and make excuses. So here’s what I created… A nurture box. For me, bringing this into the physical is an important reminder (and a pretty one at that!) to honour myself each day and try something extra with my selfcare. I love variety, so I mix it up and have lots of different ideas that take varying amounts of time. I also keep some blank notes to add new ideas when they arrive.
Create your own nurture box, so that when you’re feeling you need to top up you know exactly where to go!
What lights you up?
Really start to notice what you love doing and write it down. Depending on where you are in your life, you may be more aware or feeling like you have absolutely no idea - go back to a time when you were happy and feeling the most ‘you’, what did you like to do? Is there something you’ve always wanted to try? Write all ideas down, no matter how small (sometimes the smaller the better - things that take less time can be easier to weave into life and you might find you do more of them!)
As we head into winter this is a perfect time to recover from whatever it might be, from however long ago the pain was. Sometimes we don’t give ourselves the time and compassion to rest after a big life event, it can be hard to stop – too raw, painful and so we just keep going, filling. our. time - but recovery can be whenever you’re ready.
It can be now.
In fact, now is a perfect time especially as the energy of the season is slowing down. Bring your focus within, open your nurture box and choose something! The goals and dreams that you have in your heart, love and care for them too, there will be time for them to be fully expressed, now it’s time for you to reclaim you.
