What do you love best about Summer?

Is it the warmer weather, food, socialising, longer nights, holidays, smell*, sport?

So maybe sport isn’t the first thing you think of for Summer, it certainly isn’t for me, but what a treat at the moment. With this Moon cycle there is so much amazing sport on and with the Olympics starting in a few days, there’s something for everyone.

Whether you love the Olympics or not really fussed, there’s no denying the athletic prowess of each competitor is awe inspiring. Watching competitive sport can be an emotional work-out; from feelings of elation, to disappointment, nerves and excitement, hiding behind the sofa, or leaving the room in case you’ll jinx the results - all in a couple of hours or so! Phew! It can be a great release for us individually to experience, and a unifying time to share in the delight of winning (or commiserations in losing) with our family, friends, community and nation. You may have guessed that I love the Olympics!

We can learn a lot from top athletes, their focus, motivation and dedication is second to none. Watching elite athletes also allows us an opportunity to directly see how our mental strength affects our physical performance. Some athletes are so transparent, you can read their body language when they have mentally given up, and others when they find the inner strength to push through the physical discomfort and shut down their inner critic. It’s a great reminder for us all and the self-limitations we each have to work through in our lives, and the power of resilience and vulnerability. To be at the top of your game in any field, mental strength and physical fitness go hand in hand.

We can all enjoy the wonders of our body. Summer is a great time to get outside and explore, visit places of natural beauty, trying a new sport or fitness training program - you’ll be amazed by your potential! (Yes, you are stronger than you think!)

What’s one change you can make for yourself this month that will improve your fitness and wellbeing?

Maybe you’re aware of what’s holding you back from being a better athlete of life, maybe you can’t quite see it yet, in any case Reiki is a wonderful healing tool to help you on your journey, in this game of life. The training never ends, we can always improve. Contact me if you’d like to learn more about how Reiki healing can help you or if you’d like to join our Reiki Olympic Moon Healing this month.

We can take our bodies for granted when we’re healthy and feeling fine, but when we’re not, it’s the only thing that matters. Invest in yourself and you’ll always win.

* The smell of Summer is one of my favourites. And countries smell different… it’s true! Australian Summertime is my favourite, the scent of eucalyptus and the sea breeze!
