Happy Summer Solstice!

I recently discovered that the Summer Solstice used to be known as the Festival of Expectation. Expectation for this fruitful season; long hot days (🤞), enjoying what you have achieved so far this year and the excitement of more to come.

We can look at expectation in other ways too. There are our own expectations to explore and how they can shape or distort our lives. Do you put unrealistic expectations on the people around you – what you think they should do, say and how they treat you? How do you show up for yourself? Unless you set the standards (aka boundaries) for you, how can you expect others to follow the same?

Expecting less from yourself isn’t always easy, however when you know what’s most important to you and aligned with your values, regardless of what your family, friends, community or society dictates, is a powerful place to be.

Speaking with a musician friend recently, reminded me that we can’t just expect new opportunities to fall into our lap. He realised he wasn’t creating the music that he loved, and the projects he was working on weren’t inspiring to him. So he started composing and recording again and through this process people began reaching out to him, with work that connected to his passions and future goals, just like that!

We have to make a move; close a door - for another to open, let go of an outcome - and trust everything’s working out perfectly. Keep creating the work you love doing - even if no one is asking. Open channels, show the Universe your dedication, resilience, flair and what it’s missing!

Stepping into the unknown is brave move and we can choose to do it in any area of our life.

If you would like to explore this more, come and try some Reiki! My treatment room is open and my next Reiki Full Moon healing is on Thursday night - a midsummer night’s dream..! (Okay I couldn't resist that one!) This month we’re thinking about boundaries and for the 3 cycles of Summer we’ll be building on this. Join if you want to up your self-care this month and be inspired by the rose!
