Death & Year End
This week a friend died peacefully in her sleep.
She was a force for good and I'm a better person for knowing her - and that's got to be the ultimate legacy you can give in this life.
There was a lot I admired about her - she was brilliant at building community and also supporting others to do the same. She'd meet you on the sidelines and with her warm smile, tenacity and encouragement, you'd be playing on her team before you knew it, championing her visions in your own personal way. She was a leader, pioneer and never gave up on what she believed in until something better had been done about it. And she got a lot done in her nine decades. She made her world a better place and in doing so helped and touched so many people's lives.
Death always brings about reflection, reminiscing and a reminder this life is finite. It's brings clarity into what's really important.
As we come to the end of 2024 and with tonight's Full Moon take a moment to reflect on your year, all the goodness and sadness, funny moments and times of struggle. You might like to gaze at the Moon and with a full heart, give thanks for all the wonderful people in your life, the beautiful world we live in and advent calendars - a little bit of chocolate in the morning is the best start to the day.
